Master of Engineering Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with honors at least Second Class Lower
- Any one of the following tests: GRE (Graduate Record Examination), TOEFL,
- IELTS
- Three referees from your last institution.
- Statement of Purpose
The minimum scores for these tests are as follows:
1) GRE: Minimum score of 320 (verbal & Quantitative Total) and 160 (verbal) and 160 (Quantitative) and 3.5 (analytical)
2) TOEFL: Score of 85 for Internet Based Test (IBT)
3) IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0 band overall.
TESTS SCORE SUBMISSION VALIDITY PERIOD:
- GRE Validity: 5 years (after test date)
- TOEFL Validity: 2 years (from the date of the test)
- IELTS Validity: 2 years (from the test date)
Applicants, who graduated from English-medium universities and have yet to sit for the tests, may be required at the discretion of the Head of Department or Vice-Dean (Graduate Programs), NUS applicants to undergo this test to assess their course knowledge and skills for University study.

Program Structure: Coursework Element
- Research degree program includes an element of coursework in the same or related fields.
- The coursework component comprises not less than 16 MCs (typically 4 graduate modules) for Master of Engineering students.
- Master’s students are expected to achieve a CAP of at least 3.00 in the best 4 modules (equivalent of 16 MCs), inclusive of core modules (if any).
- International students should obtain at least C grade in English language.
Graduate Seminar:
- To coordinate with other graduate students. Also, the required coursework includes a “graduate seminar.”
- Student need to attend seminars and deliver presentations of research work.
- Participation in seminars is mandatory for all the students of this course as it improves communication skills.
- A ‘Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory’ grade is awarded based on attendance, presentation and document submission.
- Research students of all departments need to obtain a satisfactory grade for the seminar module.
Thesis Component:The Master’s program requires the completion of a thesis not exceeding 30,000 words.
