Tonga 24 – Lebanon 22: Cedars fume as Tonga reach Rugby League World Cup semi finals.
ENGLAND referee Ben Thaler was at the centre of controversy in this dramatic quarter final clash.
Thaler harshly over-turned a try decision given to Lebanon’s Adam Doueihi by ref Gerard Sutton.
Thaler claimed Ben Murdoch-Masila – who sign for Warrington from Salford – block in the build up.
But it looked tough on The Cedars and skipper Robbie Farah complain long and hard afterwards.
But Thaler’s decision on the 46th minute incident take place and outsiders Lebanon were fuming that they went on to lose by only two points.
The lowest rank team in the World Cup did superbly to rattle Tonga. It provide the shock of the tournament in the previous game.
