Indian women won gold in World Shooting Para Sport World Cup. Rubina Frances, A female player of Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy has made history by winning gold medal for India at the international level.
The Indian team have won a gold medal in the team event of the 10m air rifle event at the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Thailand in the women’s competition. The Indian team consisted of Rubina Francis, Pooja Agarwal and Sonia Sharma.
It was a brilliant performance by the Indian women in Bangkok. Again flying the Indian flag high at the world stage. The medal also reaffirms the fact that Indian shooting is on the rise and the sport deserves more recognition in the country. Indian shooters have time after time performed well at the world events without gaining much recognition for their efforts.
The Indian women beat the home team in front of their home crowd to win the Gold medal. The Thailand team walked away with the silver medal, much to the disappointment of the home crowd.
Rubina’s journey in games was very difficult for World Shooting Para Sport World Cup. Her father,Simon Francis is working in bike repairing shop in Jabalpur. Family fiancial conditions was not well. Rubina’s both feet are weak and little turned.In this situations she face a lots of problems.
Despite of that Rubina start her shooting career in 2014. She score 47 in Gagan Narang Shooting academy trial camp.After that camp, she was selected for 15 days training.She finihed 1 year training there.
One strike broke the her father shop. All family survie on that shop income and there was no other source of income. family don’t have any money for food and her shooting career was in danger.Her father started repairing bikes by going home to home.
Even after that Rubina’s father was not able to pay her shooting academy fee. So academy throw her out.At the same year, she took admission in Bhopal shooting academy and reach till Bankok.
International Career in World Shooting Para Sport World Cup:-
Also Rubina Francis, an academy shooter scored an impressive 355 points in a pressure situation. The more experienced Pooja Agarwal and Sonia Sharma too kept their nerves. Shooting scoring 358 and 357 points respectively. The overall score of the Indian team was 1070 points.
In reply, the Thailand team could only score 1048 points respectively. The brilliant teamwork by the Indian women ensured that India came away with the prestigious Gold medal at the big event.
Though Rubina is a resident of Jabalpur(Madhya Pradesh-India). And she selected in Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy in July this year. Rubina is on the top in rankings of differently able players in India. She selected under Target Olympic Podium Scheme of Government of India. Here the best players of the country given Rs 50000 per month scholarship
