Shravan Kumar, a passout in 2015 from IIT Bombay, is doing a Group ‘D’ job in Railways. He is working as a trackman at Dhanbad (Jharkhand) railway station. Shravan, who has studied Metrology and Material Science, is currently working in the Public Works Inspector Department in Chandrapura.
His job here is to watch the maintenance of railway trucks in Chandrapura-Tello section. He was selected for this job under RRB NTPC. His posting was held on 30 July in Dhanbad Railway Division.

Shravan enrolled in IIT in 2010. He did his BTech and MTech in Metrology and Material Science from IIT Bombay. After this, he was preparing for the competitive exam.

Shravan Kumar Dream: One day I will be a big officer.
According to Shravan, “Job security is the best in a government job. No job is small or big. Many of my friends are in the private sector, but they want to do a government job. I hope that I will become a big officer one day in the future I will be.

Father became an inspiration:
I achieved this by inspiring my father. It was his dream to get a good job. So I studied day and night to fulfill his dream. The mother says that after his father’s passing away, Suresh took care of the house by giving tuition to the children and also continued to study. Very happy with son’s success.
Suresh, who lives in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, said – the process was long, but I kept trying constantly.
Father’s dream was that son should get a good job, mother bid – son also took tuition and took care of home.
Another joy in the state, Irmim Shamim passed the AIIMS MBBS entrance exam in the first attempt.
